On world wide communications
I will start this post with a question for you all.
What do you think is the most important object to have at hand after you have given birth?
Of course since most of you have not just had a baby I will give you the answer,.... your smartphone of course!
You can take pictures of yourself and your baby and send them around the planet through WhatsApp or Facebook, you can communicate to your pregnancy yoga class that you will not join next lesson since there is no point anymore in joining, you can check whether the baby bath cape that you ordered online has already been delivered and many more indispensable actions all with one touch of the hand.
Isn't it a wonder, not so much that you can do all the above mentioned actions with one single object, but that in the 21st century when you can do all the above mentioned actions with one single object, the birth of a baby is still triggering the most reactions of joy and congratulations exactly as it did several centuries ago! Only today you can do it faster. News travel far and fast today, but you know it is still the same type of news.
This brings me to the more philosophical reflection that even though technology might change our life it does not change our nature.
If you are curious to know I have received congratulations for Oliver's birth from Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Africa, all within two days, pity I miss Australia otherwise the news would have been really around the world....in 48 hours
What would Jules Verne think if he could see this? Not much maybe it is just the birth of another baby.

Hi Chiara, Congratulations! Of all places, Waalre was not yet mentioned so here's a congratulation from nearby. Your son looks happy and relaxed, a very nice picture. Enjoy! Regards,
