What's hot and what's not - Sardinia 2018

Even though I have not been writing in what seems to me like ages, on this last day of my summer holidays I could not miss out on writing the yearly summer trends blog post.

This year live from Sardinia (very posh at times but also very homey) I feel pretty comfortable. After Ibiza beaches where I felt so dressed being the only one wearing a bikini top, and after Sharm el Sheikh where I felt so naked  surrounded by chadors and burkinis I feel finally "normal".
Nice colorful bikinis are an absolute must, the one piece swimming suit is really dead. The mix and match bikini seems on its way out even though one still has to buy the two pieces separately at an higher total price of course (the beauty of marketing)!

For the ladies two major trends, the more precious stones on your sandals the better (I was totally prepared on this one) and the high waist on your jeans but at 37 degrees for most of the day of course  also on your shorts.
This second trend is mostly affecting teenage girls and I have  never been so glad for being in my forties and having a daughter that is still only nine since besides being hideous these shorts make the girls look trampy and a tad vulgar.

On the man side also bad news since the short jeans are on their way back and the long short pants (which were just on the rise last summer) are totally raging this year.
For the male swimming gear the Italian man is no surf dude and he is not afraid to show his bulging belly above a very inappropriate speedo. Thank goodness everyone is properly tanned, which makes the ensemble less horrifying. A great tan is therefore also a must on these beaches!

The straw hat is still there in all colors and shapes for the whole family, how reassuring!

All in all Sardinia is trendy as only Italians can be and comfortable as long as you are ready to work on a kickass tan (totally aced it 😜)

PS and if you cannot handle the swish swish dance you are a total nobody this year
