Christmas XXL
As I have said before all the pandemic related restrictions and the extremely long home seclusion are making me socially rebellious.
We were urged by the government to celebrate Christmas soberly and as I had anticipated I did not do it.
Let me pick up the list of outrageous propositions that I showed you in my last post and let's see how I did
- Send cheesy Christmas cards with the Simons family in front of the Christmas tree
- Totally nailed it! We were looking so windosory in our ugly Christmas jumpers that Olivia Colman almost offered to play me
- Prepare proper (made one month in advance) Christmas pudding, to set on flame on Christmas Eve
- So done! Flamed with original Cuban rum and eaten with British imported double cream in spite of the Brexit and of the British mutant Corona virus
- Source (very difficult) and prepare (I can definitely take on the challenge) strictly traditional Neapolitan Christmas dinner, without the help of my parents
- Completely philological and a monstrous effort. I had to travel through half Brabant to source all the necessary ingredients from an eel nursery in Helmond to a Romanian delicatessen shop in Boxtel and everything else in between. Only one minor ingredient was missing, apparently still in transit from Italy since almost a month (no comments on the postal service, they are the true heroes of this pandemic). Normally I never take pictures of food but now I have a full gallery to prove my truthfulness in case any of you should find this story hard to believe
- Extend the presepe to gigantic proportions
- Not really gigantic proportions but solid performance by my husband
In conclusion I would say: nothing sober about this Christmas mr. Rutte👿, keep coming with your press conferences I can take you on!
The ghost of Christmas past came to visit me on Christmas Day while we were having a game of tombola and it showed me endless afternoons spent calling numbers whose memory and feeling had totally been lost on me for years.
The ghost of Christmas present is telling me to calm down and trust the authorities waiting for the vaccine to come.
The ghost of Christmas future has not showed up yet, but I am waiting for it, to grab my second chance for an even more sparkling life from 2021 on.
