The Holiday

Dear readers, friends, followers,
after nine months of undecidedness and doubt; before you worry I am not talking about another pregnancy; I finally came to the conclusion that it was wise for me to restart my blog. Maybe for your amusement and maybe as a therapeutic medium for myself.
This is of course not really a Maternity Brief anymore, but I am still me and I am still a mother. The only difference is that now my care and my worries have to be dedicated both to home and office in an unstable equilibrium which has been characterizing my life in the last seven years.
In order to make my life easier I decided to restart my posts just before going on vacation, avoiding me the temptation to talk about work.
Holidays are typically the perfect moment to do a lot of things which are as valid as re-starting a blog, a few examples come to my mind
  • Get a great tan
  • Lay flat for an indefinite amount of time to recharge your batteries
  • Visit strange and foreign lands in order to increase your knowledge of the world
  • Visit strange and foreign lands in order to learn absolutely nothing
  • Do some soul searching
  • Forget your worries replacing them with a whirl of siteseeing, shopping, dining and partying
This list can go on forever and we all have one or more purposes attached to our holidays.
In order to let you understand mine I will refer, as I often do, to a movie, The Holiday, how original eh!
For those of you who have seen the movie no words of explanation are needed, for the others let me just tell you two things: "sometimes a change of scenary does a lot of good to you" and "watch the movie it is really very good".
I am not going to visit a strange and foreign land though, at least not strange and foreign to me. I am going to Italy.
While I am there I will be visiting a nice number of old friends, it will definitely be nice but I cannot really predict which kind of nostalgia this all can unleash. I will also fill a major blank space in my knowledge of the world. You might not believe it but I have never been in Siena. I of course need to tick this box in case I will ever want to apply for a Dutch passport. The Dutch readers among you will definitely understand.
So in conclusion, if you have missed me (and I secretly hope you have) stay tuned, more will come.
