Great expectations

Counting down the days to the big summer holiday it seems almost impossible not to write about it. While I do the last shopping and compile packing lists I am envisioning:
  • sun every day
  • a shiny sea view from our windows
  • fresh fish, fruit and vegetables on our table
  • splashing in the pool and building castles at the sea
  • driving out to local country fairs and historical sites
  • sipping cocktails at the beach club
  • sleeping out and staying up late
  • ....for no less than three weeks
Absolutely nothing could spoil this thought, not even my husband commenting on my new bikini. To my question "Darling does this bikini make me look fat" he candidly replies "No dear, the fat was already there". I choose to ignore him!

My packing list is absolutely up to the holiday plans, and even though I will definitely not be the fittest on the beach, I will certainly not be the worst looking. Proudly wearing my size 36 (for the Italians among my readers that is a size 42 and for the Americans that is a size 6) I am approaching the summer vanity fair with pride and courage.

The children are also up to a break and I am sure this holiday will do them a lot of good as well. One of the few scientifically totally unfounded statements of my mother which I actually do believe in declares the following: spending the summer in the sun and very close to the sea helps strengthen the children immune system making them healthier through the following winter.
This does not mean that children have to spend all the summers of their lives at the beach but at least a couple of summer weeks per year would definitely do them good.

No soul searching objective to this holiday, pure enjoyment and relaxation, or at least this is the plan. I will surely come back with big plans on how to streamline my life much more efficiently in the next season, but this happens to everybody and you all know what happens to these plans.

In spite of that I am sure this is going to be a fun holiday, stay tuned to follow my adventures from this Thursday on for the next three weeks.
