Nations under the sun
Just a quick one from my phone. First day at the beach in Cyprus and I cannot avoid to notice the very varied collection of nations and races sunbathing and swimming in a ten meters radius from where I sit.
They are all here from the further ends of Europe with the same objective, enjoying the sea and the sun.
All nations seem to be equal under the sun.
All the over thirty moms are overweight (thank god)
All the little kids oscillate between the adorable and the obnoxious
All the teenage girls are parading their bikinis walking along the sea hoping for the teenage boys to notice them
Unfortunately all the teenage boys are talking about football without taking any notice and any action
And all the daddies are building castles
This is all very reassuring and one would think that there is no reason why this should not be the scenario all year long.
Well we all know that this is not the case because normally we are too busy thinking how shovinistic the French are and how double faced the British, how unreliable the Italians and how lazy the Spanish.
And we all think our own nation has the best healthcare system in the world and it is getting the list subsidies from the European Union.
Maybe we should mix and mingle more in our extensive free time and see how similar we actually are
