The importance of project management

Here I am back online after a few days of silence.
From the confinement of my recovery bed, with a limited view to my immediate surroundings, I still had the chance to derive some business relevant findings.

I will try to explain.

My care and the one of my two children is at the moment entrusted to three individuals, my husband, my mother and the so called kraamzorg (who is basically a nurse).

The team could have not been more randomly assorted, even though looking at their relatioship to me and the children, it is logical that they have a role in this task.
Put together a sturdy Rotterdam nurse, a pensioned italian literature teacher and a nerdy ASML professional and let them run this project without any kind of coordination.

Lets analyze the situation structurally, we start from the language:

1) my mother and the nurse communicate with each other in broken French,
2) my husband and my mother communicate with each other in broken Italian,
3) my husband and the nurse communicate with each other in healthy Rotterdams

I will let you imagine the quality, clarity and amount of communication that goes on between the team

Let's not look at the leadership structure:

My husband should be naturally in charge, being the owner of the house and the father of the children, but as a peaceful, confrontation avoiding kind of guy he does not really dare to speak his opinion (when he has one, mind you) louder than the minimal hearing threshold.

My mother reserves her right to complain afterwards therefore she does not see any advantage in trying to prevent or timely correct situations that do not seem to suit her.

The nurse, due to expertise and character is quite willing to take the lead but she is not allowed by the code of conduct of her employer, for which customer is king and no bossing around is allowed in order to avoid possible complaints.

You probably already know where I am going with this, considering the above discribed situation the three team members cannot do much more than run around in circles for sometime before they come knocking at my door for guidance and above all coordination.
Am I willing to give it? Actually I should be resting, my body as well as my brain but how can you refuse? Somebody has to be in charge in the end.

Fortunately next to this intricate dance of diplomatic give and take, the children know exactly what they want and do not have any reluctancy and hesitation in shouting that out lound (even in not so many words).
Life as well as communications start simple, and then they become difficult as long as we grow up.
